Hello all, it’s Tuesday Sept 22.
We’re posting an editorial soon about the PTI leader arrests that are happening around the country before the long march on the 27th. While the police, in accordance with the law, can detain people under the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960, it does not allow them to harass women and children, enter their homes in the middle of the night and try to intimidate them for having ‘links with Khan’. It is a very dangerous precedence to set that has no positive outcome. Watch out for our take on the matter.
The UNICEF story is another important once so if you know young people online, definitely help them stay more vigilant.
See you tomorrow and hoping it’s a better one!

Security forces killed at least 37 militants in ground operations and airstrikes in KP and along the Afghanistan border. The Information Ministry said nine militants were killed in operations around Kohat and Hangu, while airstrikes destroyed three militant sites, including a suicide-bomber training centre, killing another 28. The strikes follow a series of deadly attacks in KP, including the Kohat Police Lines attack that killed 22 people, including 16 police officers.
Imran Khan’s sisters Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan have been detained for 30 days and shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail, a day after their sister Aleema Khan was also detained, as PTI prepares for its Sept 27 ISB march. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the govt would find a “permanent solution” to such protests and would not allow the country to remain shut for 10 or 20 days. “This time, we will fulfil our role completely. As I said, it will be once and for all,” Naqvi stated.
An estimated 1.5 million children in Pakistan experienced online sexual abuse in one year, according to a new UNICEF report. Around 85% of perpetrators were known to the victims, while 71% of children told no one and none of those surveyed formally reported the abuse. Experts warn that predators often approach children through games and social media, building trust before using threats, blackmail or promises of money and gifts to exploit them.
Former Info. Minister Mushahid Hussain has claimed Israel was behind a drone intercepted near Makkah, calling it a “false flag operation” designed to create tensions between Muslim countries. Saudi Arabia says the drone came from Yemen’s Houthi group, but the Houthis deny targeting Makkah or any Islamic holy site. Hussain suggested the incident could have been intended to create conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran or draw Pakistan into the regional war.
All Iranian airlines could be stopped from flying internationally from tomorrow, under new US sanctions, according to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. He said airports and companies that allow Iranian planes to land, refuel or sell tickets could lose access to the US banking system. Iran has not yet publicly responded to the announcement.
