Took a long time to find stories that you would like to read about today. Slow day and not a pleasant one with the stock market crashing, and the war literally back where it started.
I’ve summarised what happened over the war weekend (with Israel’s election date also set) and there is also an update in Khan’s NAB cases. And if you’re a Sinner fan and watched the Wimbledon, that’s our good news for the day!

PM Shehbaz has left for a one-day visit to Qatar to offer condolences following the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. Accompanied by Nawaz Sharif and senior ministers, he is also expected to discuss the renewed US-Iran conflict, which has disrupted Pakistan and Qatar’s recent peace efforts.
A new amendment to the accountability law means Imran Khan’s final appeals in all NAB cases will now be heard by the Federal Constitutional Court instead of the Supreme Court. The change could have major implications for his legal and political future, particularly in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case. PTI leaders have criticised the move, calling it legislation specifically aimed at the former prime minister.
The stock market fell sharply on Monday, with the KSE-100 index dropping more than 2,000 points in early trading this morning. Investors are worried after fighting between the US and Iran escalated again, pushing up oil prices and increasing fears about the global economy.
Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon title, defeating Alexander Zverev in four sets to win his fifth Grand Slam. The Italian has now beaten Zverev 10 matches in a row, further cementing his place among tennis’ top stars.
The US launched another wave of precision strikes across Iran, targeting dozens of military sites. Iran condemned the attacks, saying the US had made months of diplomatic efforts “futile”. Iranian state media also reported that one person was killed and four others injured. Tehran responded with one of its broadest retaliatory operations yet, launching multiple phases of missile and drone attacks against US military facilities across the Gulf, in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman. Much of the current fighting is about control of the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian officials described the Strait as being “more important” than nuclear weapons and insisted that maintaining control over it was a strategic priority. Ship-tracking data showed that only six vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, the lowest number in five weeks. At the same time, reports emerged that Israel will hold national elections on October 27, with the vote widely expected to become a referendum on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the wider regional conflict.
