A Lahore man’s story has gone viral (The Current’s story is linked with all the details), about Punjab police officers stopping him and his wife and accusing them of ‘fahashi’ (indecency) to make a few bucks. Everyone has heard stories of police asking people for ‘nikahnamas’ to prove they are married but it doesn’t seem like its ending. Have you heard of it happening to someone you know?

Nawaz Sharif and Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz will address a major election rally in Muzaffarabad today as campaigning for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections intensifies. The FIA has set up a dedicated cryptocurrency investigation unit to crack down on the use of virtual assets for money laundering, terrorism financing and organised crime. Officials say the new unit will investigate crypto-linked offences while working alongside the country’s new virtual assets regulator.
The agency is also expanding its cybercrime, border security and anti-human trafficking capabilities through a newly launched National Command and Control Centre.
A Lahore man has alleged that two Punjab Police officers harassed and tried to extort Rs5,000 from him while he was helping his pregnant wife, who had stopped due to severe nausea. He claims the officers accused the couple of “indecency” and threatened to register an FIR before fleeing when he called the police helpline. The incident has sparked widespread outrage online, with many users sharing similar experiences and urging Maryam Nawaz to take action.
The government has reduced petrol prices by Rs0.35 per litre to Rs315.80, while high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs5.71 to Rs360.06 per litre. The revised rates take effect from today (July 21).
