Jemima is reportedly engaged
UK reports state they've been dating for over a year
Hello Sunday! It’s May 3rd and an afternoon newsletter.
Why is it coming in so late? There is a Mohsin Naqvi story I wanted to add and had to get it on the website first before I added it here. Required some digging and well, no one wants to dig on a Sunday.
I’ve, for now, stopped a separate war update given things are slowing down and am back to getting you guys more local content. The Jemima Khan engagement isn’t local but if the news is true, it’s so wonderful that she’s found love again.
Speaking of being MIA, I wanted to let you guys know that I will not have a WiFi connection from May 21-June 2 and this newsletter will be on a break then. I apologise for it (but I’m embarking on the journey of a lifetime InshaAllah) and will write all about it when I’m back!
See you all tomorrow!

A late-night eviction at apartment buildings at One Constitution Avenue in Islamabad has triggered controversy, with diplomats among residents forced to vacate and concerns raised internationally. Journalist Absar Alam has accused Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi of orchestrating the move, alleging misuse of state machinery and wanting to ‘run Islamabad’. The government has since halted the evictions, with PM Shehbaz stepping in as the dispute exposes deeper power tensions.
K-Electric has promised no loadshedding in Karachi during the ongoing heatwave, as temperatures feel as high as 46°C. The utility says shutdowns are suspended and around 70% of the city is already exempt, with teams on high alert to manage rising demand. Authorities have also urged residents to avoid peak heat hours (11am–4pm) and take precautions like staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activity.
Journalist Ansar Abbasi sparked debate on X after addressing PM Shehbaz in a tweet, calling for separate gym timings for men and women over “moral and social issues.” The comment drew backlash online, with many joking that those uncomfortable should “face the wall and work out” instead. Politician Hina Parvez Butt responded strongly, saying not everyone shares that mindset, urging him to “stick to your own work,” and questioning how a small number of gym-goers could create wider social problems. She also called on him to “spread something positive” as the exchange fueled a wider debate on personal choice and conservative attitudes.
Jemima Goldsmith is reportedly engaged to Irish-Australian financier Cameron O’Reilly after dating for just over a year, according to UK media reports. The couple met through work and have kept their relationship largely private, splitting time between London and Switzerland. The engagement marks a new chapter for her, even when she continues to campaign for ex-husband Imran Khan while building her film and documentary career. Jemima has not confirmed the news yet. Trump says he will “soon be reviewing” Iran’s new 14-point proposal but has made clear he does not expect a deal. Iran is demanding guarantees of non-aggression, an end to the Strait of Hormuz blockade, and a halt to fighting across the region. The biggest sticking point remains Iran’s nuclear programme, with Trump insisting it must give up its nuclear capability. Meanwhile, tensions remain high as the conflict continues to spill into Lebanon and surrounding areas. For now, talks appear stalled, with little immediate progress expected despite renewed proposals.
That piece of gossip you want to partake in? Don’t do it because it’ll blow up and put you in a difficult place.
If you haven’t seen The Devil Wears Prada 2, hit the movie theaters to watch it. Because it’s good? No, not particularly. It definitely doesn’t live up to part 1 and some parts are super cringe but if you’ve seen (and loved) part 1, you’ll have to watch part 2. Don’t go for the storyline, do go for the fashion (and don’t miss the Jeff Bezos references)!
