A new week! It’s Sept 21, a Monday and October is soon upon us! If you’re in a colder area, you’re likely already feeling that nip in the air and wanting to take out those shawls! Let’s see what winter smog has in store for us in Punjab.
I’ve listed the three main PTI protest stories in one highlight, and honestly, cannot believe that petrol might be Rs. 1000 per litre. I’m trying to calculate how much that would be for my car and I honestly, do not want to think about it. Hopefully it won’t come to that!
See you all tomorrow!

State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry said peaceful protesters could enter the capital but warned that unlawful acts would not be tolerated, while talking about the PTI protest scheduled for ISB on Sept 27. PTI’s Junaid Akbar said workers would reach Islamabad through multiple routes. Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan has been detained for 30 days and taken to Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail. The detention order cites police reports accusing her of posing a risk to public order, ahead of the protests. Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has warned that protests and sit-ins could cost the country up to Rs120 billion a day.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik has warned that petrol could hit Rs1,000 per litre as global oil prices surge. Petrol is currently Rs389.14 per litre and diesel Rs424.04, with the govt offering a Rs100-per-litre relief scheme for motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles up to 800cc.
A video from KHI’s National Institute of Child Health shows welding work being carried out inside a nursery while newborn babies were present, with sources saying 80 to 120 infants were inside and most were dependent on oxygen. The repair work was reportedly being done to create an emergency exit. Hospital administration did not respond to GEO’s requests for comment. The incident comes weeks after a fire at PIMS in Islamabad killed 15 infants.
Five members of a family, including three children, were found dead inside a locked flat in KHI’s Ahsanabad area, with police saying the bodies appeared to have been there for several days. Police said the father, Dr Umar, had recently resigned from his job after being diagnosed with cancer, had been robbed, and the family had been facing financial difficulties. Suicide is suspected, but police say the actual cause of death will only be established after postmortems.
Iran has said that it has sent its “war-ending demands” through Qatari mediators, including an end to the war, release of frozen funds and an end to the naval blockade, while Trump says he is open to meeting Iran’s president and is in “deciding mode”, warning that “very big things” could happen soon.

What will happen will happen. Being anxious over an issue that is out of your hands will do you no good.

The issue that has the internet divided this week is over a foreign travel content creator’s video after it was revealed that she, along with other foreign creators, was provided VIP protocol by the prime minister. Some are praising the govt for facilitating those who are promoting a positive image around the globe, others are questioning the govt’s priorities and spending of taxpayers’ money amid ongoing crises. Which side are you on?
