Yesterday, around 2pm, Mohsin Naqvi did a press conference on Khan’s eye and Khan’s sisters responded as the conflict over Khan’s treatment deepens, another suicide attempt at a medical university in Lahore raises serious questions, and wow, we pay a lot in tax on petrol.
Hope you have a great beginning to Ramzan and a month full of blessings InshaAllah.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said delays in Imran Khan’s eye examination were caused by Khan’s sister Aleema, alleging she resisted accepting the medical board’s findings to keep the issue alive. Naqvi said that, “Aleema Khan Sahiba told her party that if we accept this, the issue will die down. Due to her, the medical check-up could not be conducted for three days,” stating that doctors and other PTI leaders had expressed satisfaction with the treatment. He added that the government’s medical team and Khan’s medical team had met and agreed on the treatment plan but the delay was from Aleema’s side. Aleema responded by saying that Khan had not seen his personal physician since 2024, and the doctors the sisters had recommended were rejected. She said that Naqvi also rejected the sisters’ request that a family member be present at the treatment. She also added that while discussions were taking place with Naqvi, he had first agreed on a different hospital with the family and then changed it to Al-Shifa Eye Hospital. Khan’s sister Uzma also started that, “We do not know what kind of injection was administered to Imran. Was it an injection of poison?” she asked, adding that during her last meeting with Imran, he had expressed the fear that he would be killed in jail.
A final-year MBBS student at Fatima Jinnah Medical University died after falling from her hostel’s third floor, with police investigating whether it was an accident or possible suicide. The university says she felt dizzy during a rooftop walk and was rushed to Ganga Ram Hospital, while authorities are examining all angles, including foul play. This incident follows a December case where a student died after jumping from a building of the same university.
A new Petroleum Ministry breakdown shows nearly 39% of petrol and 34% of diesel prices are made up of taxes and levies which is over Rs100 per litre on petrol and nearly Rs95 on diesel. Meanwhile, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited has proposed nearly all-day supply in Punjab from 3am to 10:30pm, but final approval is still pending with the Petroleum Division.
India’s big AI Impact Summit kicked off in New Delhi with global tech bosses flying in, including OpenAI’s Sam Altman, but day one was pure chaos, with overcrowding, long queues, missing stalls and even theft complaints forcing the IT minister to apologise. While organisers scrambled to set up a “war room” to fix the mess, the government also used the stage to warn Big Tech to follow India’s rules, tighten content controls and brace for stricter regulation on deepfakes.
Taking it slow also has its disadvantages. Make a decision fast and stick to it.
