Good morning on this Wednesday, Aug 5.
I received a very interesting email from one of you yesterday and have been thinking about it since. You reached out with a problem between one of your teachers and a star student and how the teacher is going around badmouthing the student, while the student believes the teacher is very sincere towards them. Should you tell the student who is your friend and the teacher is actually not sincere towards them? Yikes, that’s a tough one and for you to reach out for advice, really shows how upset you are about this situation.
My advice would be to wait. You love your friend, but he/she is also very attached to this teacher and it might break them to find out that the teacher isn’t who they think they are. And for you to be certain. If you’ve just heard about the teacher doing it, the teacher hasn’t told you directly, then don’t tell your friend until you are certain. Very tough position to be in, especially when it comes to a teacher-student relationship which borders on sacred sharing of knowledge. And well, keep us updated and thank you for letting me share your story.
While not an advice column, always happy to help and happy to hear your thoughts too. Email me at thecurrentpk@gmail.com (I check it myself) and let’s help each other through difficult times, if you need help.

PTI is set to hold protests across the country today to mark three years since Imran Khan’s imprisonment and demand his release, with the main rally taking place in Peshawar. The party says demonstrations will remain peaceful, although it has accused authorities of cracking down on its workers. Meanwhile, Rawalpindi officials have denied permission for a rally at Liaquat Bagh, citing security concerns.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi says special centres for women will be set up in courts across the country. The facilities will include separate waiting areas, washrooms, legal advice and support services to make the justice system safer and easier to access. The project has been made a top priority for 2026-27, with plans to roll it out nationwide.
Sindh is planning to launch a facial recognition attendance system in government schools across six districts from August 17 to tackle ghost teachers and fake attendance. The system will record the arrival and departure times of teachers and staff, even in areas with poor internet access. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah says the initiative is aimed at improving transparency, discipline and the quality of education in public schools.
In the US-Iran conflict, Trump is claiming a deal could be reached within the next 48 hours after new rounds of negotiations. Meanwhile, reports of explosions in Dubai (multiple explosions in the Jebel Ali Industrial area), attacks on ships in the region and dwindling US missile stockpiles have raised fears of a wider conflict. Despite the uncertainty, Pakistan-flagged oil tankers have safely crossed the Red Sea amid threats from Yemen’s Houthis.
Trust yourself to make the right decision, no matter how conflicted you are.
